SAGICOR CHRISTMAS TENNIS TOURNAMENT- RESULTS DAY TWO

Play continued today at the National Tennis Centre, day two of the Sagicor Christmas Tennis Tournament 2019. First on in the 10 & under orange ball category Hannah McNamara took on Jordyn Bishamber defeating her 4-1, on the boys side Sanjay Lake defeated Reggie Weeks 4-0 he also went on to defeat Aidan Rosemond 4-0.

In the girls 14s category we had some deciding matches to determine positions in the main draw , number one seed Amara Jn Marie breezed her way through defeating Amelia Duval in straight sets 4-2 4-0 and Ebony Nicholas 4-0 4-0. Jn. Marie will face Natasha Charles in the semi-final tomorrow. Natasha Charles also made the main draw defeating Janae Williams in straight sets 4-1 4-2. We also saw Latoya Murray positioning herself at number one in her group after she defeated Lindy Amedee in straight sets 4-0 4-0. Murray makes the main draw and will face Amelia Rosemond in the Semi-Final tomorrow.

Playing on centre court in the girls 18s semi-final is Jorja Mederick, Iyana Paul, Aviona Edmund and Alysa Elliott. Paul secured her main draw spot today after defeating Alysa Elliott in straight sets 6-4 6-1. Paul will be facing Jorja Mederick for a spot in the final.

After a long marathon first round match yesterday Aviona Edmund returned today with more energy positioning herself at one in her group after she defeated Jace Leon in straight sets 6-1 6-3. She will be facing Alsa Elliott in the semi-final to play for a spot for the championship.

Joey Angeloni continues on his victory run as he has not lost a set or match so far in the boys 18s category, today he faced Jivan Joseph defeating him 6-0 6-0, He also got the best of Nathan Elliott in straight sets 6-1 6-0. Angeloni advances to the main draw and will be facing Petterson George in the semi-finals. Arden Rosemond also advances to the main draw today because of his 6-1 6-0 victory over Jivan Joseph. Aaron Gerald will play Arden Rosemond in the second semi-final tomorrow after he secured his main draw spot by defeating Petterson George in straight sets 6-4 6-3.

All main draw matches and doubles will commence tomorrow for all categories, we invite the public to continue supporting our junior athletes as they continue competing for ranking points and the different titles in this tournament.
